Tread Lightly

Tread Lightly

We all leave footprints on the planet.  What can we do to reduce our impact?  In order to lower our carbon footprint, or our separate but related nitrogen and water footprints, we need to understand how they are made.  Articles on the Down for Change E-zine bring awareness to our human impact on climate and highlight organizations or businesses taking actions that contribute to drawdown. Drawdown is that time in the future when carbon dioxide equivalent concentrations begin to decrease in the atmosphere. These conditions will arise through concerted human efforts to curb the increasing carbon dioxide concentrations. There are two primary ways to accomplish this, one is to reduce fossil fuel emissions, the other is to enhance carbon uptake by making sustainable land use decisions that promote the sequestration of carbon in natural ecosystems like forests, soils and coastal waters. Individually and all together, we have the opportunity to chose to tread more lightly. We invite you to learn how we can all get down for change.
